Jolene was up before Lizzy, and went to the kitchen to get breakfast started. Despite Dylan’s instructions to the contrary, she would not let him go without sufficient food while he worked so long and hard.

It wasn’t long before Dylan entered the kitchen, rubbing his red and bleary eyes. At least Jolene wasn’t the only one who looked like hell. Handing him a coffee mug, she filled it to the top without saying a word.

Dylan noticed Jolene’s puffy eyes and knew she had probably cried most of the night. Did she get any sleep at all, or was he the only one who was still exhausted and in pain? If she had been awake most the night, she must certainly have made a decision about her future with him and Lizzy.
